Over 86% of clinical trials are delayed by 6 months or more (Kim et al.,2023). 1 in 3 sites fail to recruit a single participant (Fogel,2018). The three most common trial-specific barriers to recruitment (cited by Principal Investigators) were restrictive eligibility criteria (1), complex protocols (2), and competition from nearby clinical trials (3) (Idnay et al., 2023).
