Broken costing systems make processes inefficient

Studies estimate that it now costs somewhere between $161 million and $2 billion to bring a new drug to market (Wong & Jessop, 2014).   4. Competition and Innovation: competition drives innovation, leading to more efficient designs and the development of new technologies that can be produced at a lower cost.
